The Civic Leadership Academy Financial Aid FAQ
The following questions attempt to address most of the concerns applicants have regarding financial aid for the Civic Leadership Academy. Any additional questions should be directed to Mr. John Phillips, Program Director, at (407) 823-0665 or jhphilli@mail.ucf.edu.
Is financial consideration part of the admissions process?
No. Admission is need-blind and applicants are not asked about their individual ability to pay for the program.
How is financial aid awarded?
In some cases students may receive financial aid from one of our scholarship sponsors. Various organizations provide scholarship money to help a student from a geographic or interest area attend the program. There is no separate application for this aid and it is awarded based on criteria set by the scholarship-granting organization.
The Lou Frey Institute awards financial aid on the basis of individual need, taking into account personal and family resources. Admitted students are asked to pay the full tuition. If they are not able to do so, they are asked to estimate their need considering personal and family resources. The Lou Frey Institute will work with each student to seek additional sources of funding available to the student. The level of financial aid is set by taking into account personal resources and any additional funding sources.
How much financial aid is available?
The amount and types of aid can vary from year to year based on scholarship-granting organizations and the needs of the admitted class. Unfortunately, financial aid is limited and the tuition assistance provided by the Lou Frey Institute is based on demonstrated need. The Lou Frey Institute works with individual students to provide for their need through internal scholarship money and outside funding sources.
What if a student does not have the resources to pay for the program?
The Lou Frey Institute will work with students to make certain they are able to attend the program if admitted, regardless of personal financial resources.
